Sustaining Our Mission: Why your support matters

York County Veterans Outreach does more than just care. When red tape delays critical help, we step in - providing veterans and their families with urgent support for covering mortgages, utilities, food and more. We also partner with other local organizations who provide resources, services and programs to veterans to meet their short- and long-term goals. Our hometown heroes rely on people like you. Without your support, their challenges would be far greater. Here's how your generosity is changing lives.

LifePath Christian Ministries: Behind Each Number Is a Real Person

LifePath Christian Ministries is honored to partner with the York County Veterans Outreach (YCVO) in serving local veterans experiencing hardship. In 2024, LifePath provided shelter, food, and supportive services to 162 veterans. While the number served in 2025 was 117, the impact remained strong, with more than 2,000 individual services delivered to unhoused veterans. These services included shelter, food, intensive case management, documentation assistance, education support, health screenings, hygiene services, and transportation.

Behind each number is a real person—and at LifePath, we never forget that.

One of those individuals is “John,” an Army Veteran who entered LifePath’s shelter in mid‑January. For John, this was his first experience with homelessness, a reality he never imagined facing after years of service to his country. Since arriving, John has received 113 critical services through LifePath’s program. These include assistance with his York County benefits application, transportation to multiple medical appointments at the Lebanon VA as well as local healthcare providers, daily meals, safe shelter, hygiene supplies, and access to showers and laundry services.

Just as importantly, LifePath ensures that veterans like John have direct access to specialized support. VA and County Veteran programs are onsite at the shelter every Wednesday, creating an easy, stigma‑free pathway for veterans to connect with the benefits and services they’ve earned.

John’s story is one of resilience and hope—and it reflects the journey of many veterans walking through LifePath’s doors.

Most importantly, 71 veterans secured stable housing or were released to safe housing in 2025. LifePath remains deeply committed to providing these vital programs for our community’s veterans and sincerely appreciates YCVO’s support in making this important work possible.

Glenn Hope Care Farm: Community Is Everything

300 pounds of pasture-raised pork and 30 dozen fresh, free- range eggs

At Glenn Hope Care Farm, we are committed to raising food ethically and sustainably — producing the most nutrient-dense, pasture-raised meats and eggs possible — not just for profit, but for purpose. Food is medicine. Farming is stewardship. And community is everything.

In collaboration with Hearts 4 Veterans and through the Military Food Share Program, we were honored to donate:

Over 300 pounds of pasture-raised pork 30 dozen fresh, pasture-raised eggs all going directly to local veterans and military families in need. At Glenn Hope Care Farm, this is what mission continues to look like. While we didn’t capture photos of the veterans receiving the food, I am told — the excitement and gratitude on their faces was priceless. That moment reminded us why we do this.

This is more than farming. This is more than food. This is veterans continuing to serve — just in a different uniform.

If you believe in ethical agriculture, nutrient-dense food, and veterans taking care of their own, we’d love your support and your share.

Servants: Restoring Independence, One Step at a Time

After more than three decades in the same home, a local Veteran and her husband never imagined that five front steps could become an overwhelming barrier between them and the outside world.

Earlier this year, the Veteran called looking for help. The steps to her front porch were steep and narrow, and getting up or down them had become increasingly difficult. At first, she wasn’t sure a ramp was the right solution. Like many people, she had learned to adapt — leaning on her husband’s arm, gripping the handrail, taking one careful step at a time.

But her health challenges had intensified. She lives with COPD, congestive heart failure, and other serious medical conditions that have required frequent hospitalizations and ongoing dialysis treatments. She uses oxygen full time, relies on a walker inside the home, and needs a wheelchair when she goes outside. What once was manageable had become dangerous.

Initially, they hoped the existing stairs could simply be rebuilt with gentler rises and wider treads. But during the assessment, it became clear that even redesigned steps would still pose a fall risk and limit her ability to leave independently. A ramp was the safest long-term solution.

Time was critical. She needed a safe way to return home from rehab, and without a ramp, that discharge could have been delayed or required costly alternatives.

Volunteers stepped in to build a durable, accessible ramp designed specifically for her needs. With sturdy handrails, a gentle slope, and a stable surface, it transformed the entrance to their home from a hazard into a lifeline.

For the first time in months, she could leave and enter her home safely — for medical appointments, fresh air, visits with family, or simply to reclaim a sense of normal life.

More than a construction project, the ramp restored something deeply personal: independence, dignity, and peace of mind for both her and her husband.

Today, those five steps no longer stand between a Veteran and the life outside her front door. Instead, a simple ramp provides a safe path forward — one that allows her to remain in the home she loves.

For the Love of a Veteran: Lifesaving and Life-changing

With the support of York County Veterans Outreach, we have been able to assist numerous veterans in York County through the Stellate Ganglion Block treatment.

The experiences of these veterans have moved me deeply. One individual shared that he had exhausted all other options and, if this treatment had not helped, he was considering ending his life. Others have expressed how profoundly the treatment has improved their family dynamics. They have reported being able to communicate and connect more openly with their loved ones, feeling more comfortable in public settings and large crowds, experiencing better sleep, reduced anxiety, and an overall sense of ease.

Spouses and parents have reached out to thank us for giving them back their loved ones—expressing their appreciation for the positive changes the treatment has brought to their families.

This treatment is truly remarkable, offering both lifesaving and life-changing benefits.

"This treatment literally saved my life and helped me have a better relationship with my family." - SM

"This injection gave me a chance to reset my anger, my anxiety and the ability to let bad things go much easier. If you ask my wife, she would tell you how I am more pleasant to be around. I have struggled with depression for years and I never smiled much and rarely laughed. I find joy in simple things now. The injection has changed my entire life!" - RP

Veterans Lake Fishing: Respite In Unexpected Places

Since our funding in 2020, Veterans Lake Fishing has provided a place for veterans and their family members to actively participate in organized recreational activities.  Fishing, boating, and sightseeing can be a good time to relax, unwind and talk and even fish. Veterans Lake Fishing has offered all veterans, regardless of what branch they were in, hours on the boats to fish and sightsee Lake Marburg in Hanover. We have a pontoon boat, a bass boat and 2 kayaks. The boat ride offers equipment such as fishing poles, bait, water, snacks, life jackets and suntan lotions for Free.

We are a member of the York County Veterans Outreach and have received 2 grants from them to help us with our Mission by keeping our boats in good condition and purchasing new equipment as it is needed.
